M and N News

4 months, scooting and playing
Posted by: Niki on 2009-05-22 at 20:30:55

Desmond had his 4 month check up on May 12. He was 27 inches (95%), 16 pounds 4 oz (75%) and his head was 17.5 inches.

In the last week or so he has been grabbing at things, which is really neat to see except when I am holding him and trying to eat and he grabs my plate or bowl.

Yesterday he started getting his knees up under him while he was laying on his tummy. He will be crawling before we know it.

Today I sat him on his bum and he put his hands in front of himself on the floor and was able to sit up with out my help.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I had a great mother's day. Michael made breakfast. All of us played Legos together. After lunch we went for ice cream (which was Lili's idea, she wanted to do something special). My gift (which just getting a gift was a surprise because we usually don't buy gifts for each other) was an iphone. Michael helped me get the house in order (clean, laundry, etc.). I have the best husband and kids ever. I feel so lucky, I love my family.

In other news, Desmond is starting to grab for things and he plays with toys on his saucer. He is getting so big. He will be 4 months tomorrow.

    Copy-tate
Posted by: Niki on 2009-05-02 at 15:09:43

On Thursday, Lili hit her head on a pole at the playground. It made her skin split open wide enough that she needed stitches. She got 3. Today we were talking about how she isn't supposed to ride bike or anything that would risk the wound opening back up. Just now she told me that she had told Austen he couldn't ride bikes or anything. I said, "Why? He isn't injured." She said, "Well, I might want to copy-tate him."

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Joe and Nora stayed with us. They got to spend a lot of time with the kids. Thursday while Lili was at preschool they hung out with Austen. Then while Austen napped they hung out with Lili. Then when Joe & I took Lili to urgent care, Nora stayed here with Austen. When it was time for them to leave yesterday, both kids were acting kind of reserved and didn't want to give hugs and kisses (which surprised me.) Right after Joe & Nora walked out the door, Austen said, "Me sad." I asked him why. He said, "Because Joe and Nora leave." I asked him if he wanted to give kisses and hugs, and both of them said yes and ran outside to give kisses and hugs before they drove away. Then a couple of hours later I found Austen in the closet of the guest room, which is where we keep Desmond's clothes. I asked him if he knew this was Desmond's closet. He said, "No, Joe & Nora's."

    Mess Sandwich
Posted by: Niki on 2009-04-26 at 17:30:01

This afternoon Michael said to Lili, "I don't know what got into you and your brother today, or what you had for lunch." Lili asked why. Michael said, "because you have both been acting like a couple of goof balls." Her response was, "Mess sandwich."

    He did it!

Desmond just rolled over from his back to his front. Then he did it again so I could get it on camera.

    Lili and eye doctor
Posted by: Niki on 2009-04-14 at 13:09:35

Yesterday Lili went to her 4 year check up. She weighed 37 lbs (65th%) and was 40.75 inches tall(70th%). Last night Lili slept all night with underwear on and had no accidents. Yea! She is done with diapers.

Lili and Austen had eye doctor appointments today. Lili has good eyes. Austen has -1. We decided to not get glasses and take him back in a year and see how he is doing at that time.

    The Sun and rolling
Posted by: Niki on 2009-04-12 at 22:51:24

Desmond rolled from his back to his side at least 4 times today.

Tonight we were in the car on the way home from Jack and Lane's when Austen asked, "Do you like the sun?" I said, "Sure, I like the sun." Austen said, "No, talking to Lili. Lili, do you like the sun." Lili said, "Yes, I like the sun, because it helps me to see things." Austen said, "(Does) Grandpa Jack like the sun?" Lili said, "Yes, he likes the sun because it lights his way." The whole conversation kind of blew me away. I have never heard someone ask someone else if they like the sun. And Lili's response as to why Grandpa Jack likes the sun was pretty amazing.

    I just love my kids!
