Desmond 1 year check up
Posted by: Niki on 2010-01-16 at 10:08:35
Desmond had his one year check up on Friday. H weighed 21lbs 3 oz (25%), his height is 31 1/4 inches (90%) and his head is 19 1/4 inches.
He has gotten so cute lately. Of course he has always been cute. But sometimes when you sing to him, he sings along with you. And yesterday he was dancing to some music.
Love that boy!
Happy birthday Desmond

My little guy turned one today. He is just getting so big. About a week and a half ago he moved out of our bed and into austen's. It has been a bit rough, with some nights better than others.
He is walking a lot. He still crawls a bunch but he can cross a room on his feet without falling down. Today he started giving me kisses when I ask.
It is so neat watching him play with lili and Austen. Sometimes he will growl and then tackle you. A trick I'm sure he learned from his brother.
That's all I can think of for now.

This morning Desmond took one step without holding on to anything. And just now he took 3 steps without holding on.
Austen's 3 year check up

Austen had his 3 year check up last Friday. He was 39" (83%) tall and weighed 36 3/4 (90%). He will be passing his sister soon on weight - Lili weighs about 39.
Austen is 3

Today is Austen's birthday.
Happy birthday my little guy. I can't believe you are 3 already.
So far his gifts include: Lego pirate ship (that was mine when I was little), an iPod (that was Michael's before he upgraded), Bob the Builder legos and some books. He also got a couple of signed baseballs (Lou Brock & Bob Gibson) from Val and Gere. And Lego Darth Vadar's tie fighter from Grammie Jacs. Grandma and Grandpa Ducy got him a sander kit (a toy one) and some $. I'd say he is making out pretty nicely this year. I love that some of his gifts have been recycled.
He was a bit cranky this morning, but is doing much better now. I attribute the crankiness to the end of being sick. He was sick Monday and Tuesday and then yesterday he was feeling much better, but still on the weak side. Today he was well enough to go to preschool, but he wasn't his old self. This afternoon, though, after lunch we have seen definite improvement in his mood. It's good to have my boy back.
Desmond is 9 months old

Desmond had his nine month check up on Monday. He is 30" tall (95%) and weighs 19 lb 7 oz (35%). His head is 18 3/4". The doctor said he was perfect, which I already knew, but it is always nice to hear someone else say.
Weaning?

I'm trying to wean Austen on the sly (meaning I haven't discussed it with him.) Lili stopped nursing when Desmond was born. We had agreed that it would happen and the day Desmond was born she said very happily, "Mommy I'm done nursing because Desmond is born."
So with Austen I haven't really talked to him about it, but I am ready to stop nursing him. He usually only nurses in the morning in our bed. So we just got back from vacation and he didn't ask to nurse the whole week. And now I am getting out of bed and getting dressed before Austen wakes up so I can avoid him asking to nurse. As far as I can tell he has gone at least 11 days without nursing. He has asked twice in the last 11 days but I distracted him and he forgot.

He stands

Desmond has stood a couple of times recently without holding on to anything - just for a couple of seconds.
We are on our vacation right now. Be sure to check twitter (see my previous post for links) because we have been posting pictures.
